The Haight Ashbury Beat is a free, independent neighborhood newspaper that began in February 2004. The Beat covers news in the following San Francisco neighborhoods: Upper Haight, Lower Haight, Cole Valley, Panhandle & Divisadero corridor.
The Beat was originally a San Francisco Observer newspaper, but went solo in August 2005, when publisher Jeremy Bates took over.
The Beat joins a long line of Haight-Ashbury papers, including the San Francisco Oracle, the Haight Ashbury Free Press, the Haight Ashbury Newspaper and The Street.
